Song Book Series: Pop Diva

So just got back from Songbook Series: Pop Diva and it was AMAZING!!! I am so proud of everyone involved in the show. They are super talented! So this weekend myself, Sam, Mandee and Haley are going to road trip it up to the Bay Area to see "Spring Awakening" and I am super excited! Pics will be taken and posted!

And it all begins!

audition: (noun) a trial hearing given to a singer, actor, or other performer to test suitability for employment, professional training or competition, etc.

Welcome to my blog :) In this blog I will write about the process of a production, both from a professional and personal viewpoints. As I am sure you gathered, I am a stage manager. I am the "glue" for the production. I am in charge of making sure everyone is where they need to be when they need to be there and that everyone knows everything important to their role in the production.

The first step of the process once a show is picked by the director is the auditions process. Typically, the director and/or casting director, and the musical director (for musicals) will listen to the actor recite a monologue, sing a song, or whatever they want the actors to do in order to show off their stuff. More often than not, the stage manager will be outside the audition room, making sure all appropriate paperwork is filled out and that the actors have everything they need for the auditions. 

The auditions for "Evil Dead" were actually pretty easy to get through. For the most part, everyone showed up and gave it their all (note to all actors-if you make an appointment and know you are going to miss it, call and let someone know! It's VERY unprofessional to just not show up at an audition!!) Myself and Haley had fun getting to know each other while we sat in the cold and bonded. There is something about sitting in the cold that makes people bond lol :)
